I was the first person hired, and helped take the startup company from an idea to a 250-person company. As one of the principal software engineers, I was responsible for large sections of the InstantOffice and Wave products, and often contributed to QA, build/release, IT, documentation, and technical support. I was the only two-time winner of the company’s annual “most valuable employee” award.• Architect of the network subsystem, including the router, network services, LAN (Ethernet hub and switch), and WAN (modem, T-1, ISDN, and Frame Relay).• Wrote the Ethernet and PBX switching drivers for Windows Server in C.• Drove overall system stability, performance, and quality within engineering.• Primary engineering contact for urgent or difficult customer support issues.• Wrote active monitoring, triaged all crashes, and provided third-tier support for our largest customer with 10,000 servers.• Grew the company with prototypes, early market research, led the hiring of the initial engineers, and initial system administration and setup.

As a member of an advanced development group, I worked on a variety of projects, such as:• Project leader, software / firmware engineer, and hardware engineer for PCMCIA Ethernet card, PCMCIA Wireless LAN card, and an Ethernet-to-Wireless router.• Wrote C/C++ drivers and utilities for isoEthernet (Ethernet + ISDN).• Wrote utilities and test tools for PCMCIA, FPGAs, and PLDs in C/C++.
