• Generate 2D and 3D models of structural components using CATIA V5, for projects involving rolling stock, wind turbine blades, energy storage systems and cargo trailers in the agricultural and mining industry.• Optimise the dimensioning process in CATIA V5 using parametric function in CATIA V5.• Create 2D engineering drawings in CATIA V5 which includes part drawing, assembly drawing, bill ofmaterials (BoM) required for manufacturing prototype or machining purposes (XY cutting, trimming &drilling).• Review customer design brief and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards tounderstand and gather requirements to assist with the preliminary design of composite structures.• Apply knowledge of finite element analysis to design composite specimens in MSC Nastran/Patran and issue work orders to lab technicians for manufacturing the specimens for mechanical tests.• Reduce complexity and recommend any improvements in manufacturing processes by tweaking FEMmodels while ensuring structural integrity is not compromised and all requirements are met.• Prepare composite test coupons, including tabbing, bonding and instrumentation.• Take part in meetings with senior engineers to discuss any bottlenecks in manufacturing process, identify the root cause and recommends any possible corrective measures.• Planning, supervision, verification, and validation of mechanical tests including tensile, compression, lapshear, inter-laminar shear, flexural, bonded and bolted-joint test of composite specimens that are used to validate equivalent finite element (FE) models, along with hand calculations.• Perform data post-processing from mechanical tests as per ASTM standards using MS Excel.• Apply theoretical knowledge of solid mechanics and materials to generate calculation sheets that are used to validate stress, strain and displacement results from FE models.• Prepare test plans, test reports, stress dossiers and calculation sheets for the delivery to clients.

• Prepare reinforcement stacks using FRP & Phenolic resin to manufacture composite panels for ballistictest.• Ensure all the materials are in stock in the composite lab to avoid any delays in the project.• Comply with all the composite laboratory safety procedures.• Carry out risk assessment and technical assessment for the use of chemicals and tools.• Assist RMIT Research Fellow with vacuum resin infusion process for manufacturing composite panels.• Perform pressing and curing on the reinforcement stack as per instruction provided by the material supplier.• Perform post-curing of the composite glass panels.

• Use knowledge of metallic and composite structures to assist in actively solving problems involving highstress concentration in regions of aircraft winglet structural components (Airbus A350-1000)• Modify model database using MSC PATRAN and ABAQUS CAE model files.• Perform mitigations of low reserve factors in elements of interest using approach of element averaging andapplying factors to material allowable at high stress locations.• Communicate regularly with the customer stress department to give insight of reserve factors and otherissues concerning stress within the finite element model for revisions of interest.• Document tools and findings to contribute to the production of stress reports.• Create stress dossiers for components so they can be released for certification, manufacturing anddocumenting potential risk to stress.• Take part in engineering discussions and solving processes to overcome complex problems in the team.
