As the Chief Data Officer and Director of Enterprise Data and Artificial Intelligence, Taka is responsible for achieving a data-centric vision at the Office of Personnel Management. He leads teams of extraordinary engineers, data scientists, and technology specialists to transform OPM into a premier authority for trusted federal human capital insights and foresights. Taka was previously the first Chief Data Scientist appointed by the Comptroller General of United States. He built the Innovation Lab at the Government Accountability Office and led the development of novel solutions that strengthened GAO’s oversight capacity through data science, AI, and other emerging technology.Taka is a member of the federal Senior Executive Services and has over 25 years of consistent track record on delivering technology innovations at scale by combining data science with technology competencies. He is passionate about developing digital-ready workforce with data-driven mindset to address complex policy, regulatory, risk, legislative, and operational challenges.He is natively fluent in both Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. In his spare time, Taka is also a serious classical chamber musician and a competitive tennis player.
