Here is Tamara’s story in her own words –I was born and grew up in Palatine Illinois (a northwest suburb of Chicago).My junior high was Palatine Hills Junior High School. Brand new, state of the art, carpeted, and air-conditioned. Nice digs. Then in 7th grade, my parents announced that we were moving toMarengo. My dad described our new school as a one-room schoolhouse. I was thinking Little House On The Prairie, andI was far too cool for pioneer dresses and bonnets. My life was over. I cried for days.While it wasn’t quite as desolate as my dad described, nearby Crystal Lake did only have one department store at that time, Huntley and Algonquin were just towns that you drove through to get somewhere else, and my platform shoes (inspired by the movie Tommy) were lost on my new classmates. Even my College was surrounded by cornfields. Graduated NIU, Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Psychology.Before real estate I had a long career in health care, managing a dental practice in Harvard Illinois (home of Milk Day). Directions to our office included “ when you get to the intersection with Harmilda (the Towns cow mascot), we are a block past her on your left”. My favorite part of my time in the dental office was the relationships formed with our patients, their families, and eventually their children's families.I got involved in real estate because there were changes that I could see coming in healthcare/dentistry that just did not seem like they would be a good fit for me. I wanted to do something new and challenging, that would still allow me to work with people that I enjoy and foster long-term relationships.My favorite part of real estate is the people. I genuinely like working with people that I genuinely like. I also enjoy the fact that real estate is always changing and never dull. Every day is different. It is exhilarating when we encounter a difficulty and then successfully navigate a solution. I also have a blast with my partner Ozzie. She is smart, thoughtful, creative, and subtly hilarious!
