My professional focus is on creating opportunities for personal transformation by developing a safe, compassionate, relationship with my clients, and supporting experiences of authentic connection between group members within group processes. My way of working with people is grounded in Attachment theory, Trauma Informed Polyvagal & Interpersonal Neurobiology, Mindful Self-Compassion, Feminist thought, and Gestalt Relational practices. As a professional I situate my work at the intersection of the personal, relational, political, spiritual, and social contexts. My counselling and group facilitation style reflects my understanding that we are all unique, valuable, and worthy, that we live in a context of competing influences. I believe that the development of self-awareness, compassionate self acceptance, and authentic connections between people facilitates personal growth, healing, and empowerment. My professional interests are with evidenced based progressive therapeutic processes & the behavioural, emotional, & social mechanisms of change, specifically the convergence of science & relationship theory within Interpersonal Neurobiology, Attachment theory, Feminist and Gestalt practices. My academic focus is on the impacts of trauma & stress on the brain, how this influences the individual’s self-concept, perception of the world, & their ability to form healthy relationships, & how the therapeutic relationship can compassionately respond to these issues.I recognise the development of self-awareness & capacity to create & maintain healthy relationships is central in assisting individuals & communities to make positive changes & empower themselves. As a therapist & group facilitator this process begins with me. As such I regularly attend personal & professional development programs to support my own growth & ability to be self-compassionate, transparent, authentic, & flexible.I am a committed group member, natural inclusive leader, and have an open sense of humour. Personal interests include painting, short films, walking in nature, the search for personal truth, mediation, yoga, and living an organic, compassionate, sustainable life.
