Blue Ruin Gallery was founded by me and Amy Woodall; we both won the 2001 "40 Under 40 Award" from Pittsburgh Magazine and the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP). This Award honors the 40 most influential people in the city under the age of 40. The gallery itself was voted Best Gallery by readers of InPGH and City Paper during its run. Along with my partner, as owner and manager of Blue Ruin Gallery my duties included the day-to-day running of the gallery; planning the schedule of exhibits and other special events; reviewing artwork and artist portfolios; curating exhibits; writing press releases; creating, researching and executing promotional and marketing opportunities; giving interviews and interacting with media; assisting with art installation; assisting with budget, sales and contracts; training gallery volunteers; buying and managing inventory for gallery shop.
