The Traffic Magistrate presides over all traffic arraignments, trials, parking and driving privilege hearings. The Magistrate also manages the License Intervention Program. It is an honor to serve the Court as Traffic Magistrate. Most people’s interaction with the Court system is through a municipal court and right now there is an epidemic of persons driving without a valid license. I want to help to provide the community with the tools they need to get their driver’s licenses back so that we are all safely and legally on the road.

From February 2017 until March 2019, Tamara Todd served the Court as Magistrate and Judicial Associate. This position incorporated two of Tamara's passions, research and writing and the adjudication of cases. Tamara supervised the Small Claims Court Mediation Program, heard Small Claims (civil) cases, provided case law and legislative updates for the Court and was assigned to give general legal support and to hear traffic and criminal matters and as needed for three of the six Akron Municipal Court Judges. Tamara was also appointed to preside over Traffic Court in the traffic court magistrate’s absence.

As Judge Williams' judicial attorney and magistrate, I conducted legal research and drafted orders, judgments and decision for the court. Additionally, I managed the court's civil docket and presided over traffic and criminal matters as needed. My background as Hearing Officer and Akron City Prosecutor prepared me for this role. This was an awesome opportunity to combine two of my passions, legal research and writing and deciding issues in the cases that come before the court.

I conducted termination hearings for the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The loss of a person's housing/property right is a sensitive issue. It was of utmost importance to me that each participant received due process and that there was factual evidence to support a termination. I strived to consistently and compassionately apply all federal, state and local laws as they relate to providing safe and affordable housing.
