About Tammie C. Garner

Passionate about teaching, Tammie is a legal professional who advises law firms and law students on learning and professional development, diversity and inclusion, pro bono legal service and community engagement. She leads legal education programs, experiential learning opportunities, and leadership training. Tammie enjoys delivering individualized coaching and developing institutional programs for on-boarding and integration, performance management, mentoring, pro bono legal service, and community engagement. An experienced KM Attorney, Tammie creatively uses technology to seek innovation and improvements within legal practice.Under Tammie's direction, Jackson Lewis established JL Academy–a national training platform that offers a holistic approach to professional development by supporting “the whole person”. JL Academy increases employee knowledge and engagement, encourages professional excellence and collaboration, fosters career satisfaction, and reinforces a learning culture.Tammie has been a long-standing member of the Professional Development Consortium (PDC), National Association of Legal Professionals (NALP), Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo), and Boston Bar Association (BBA). She co-chaired the BBA's Delivery of Legal Services Section and served as Selectwoman for the Town of Norwell, MA from 2013-15. She now serves on the Board of Ethics for the Town of New Canaan, CT and leads the Congregational Church of New Canaan's Gifts and Talents Ministry Team. Tammie practiced law as a business litigator for Goodwin Procter and became their first Litigation Knowledge Management Attorney. She taught legal research and writing as adjunct faculty for two national law schools in Boston and eventually became Director of Professional Development for Nutter.She received her J.D., cum laude, from BUSL where she served as an editor for the American Journal of Law & Medicine. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, Gettysburg College, Phi Beta Kappa.
