I am a passionate, experienced economist who developed and continues to broaden a wide range of knowledge and competencies in federal government, state government and academia. My professional interests focus on examining how the humans in an ecosystem make choices under constraints and how those choices affect the health of all life, human or otherwise, in the ecosystem. My professional ethos is driven by my desire to improve the lives of the people my work serves, as well as the lives of the people with whom I work. I am a highly effective communicator that translates technical information into relevant public policy insights and actionable advice.My 23 years of experience as a professional economist include research and teaching in the environmental, natural resource, public health and safety areas. My work for the government sector includes primary economic and social data collection and analysis, regulatory policy development and assessment, and regulatory review for compliance. I apply my economic expertise primarily to federal and state management of water quality, fisheries, and offshore wind development.Currently I am proud to lead a team of 13 federal social scientists (including economists, anthropologists. sociologists) and several contractors for NOAA Fisheries Northeast Fisheries Science Center. I am deeply committed to increasing opportunities for underrepresented groups in STEM institutions, with a special interest in first generation professionals.
