Chief, Social Sciences, Northeast Fisheries Science Centercenter | Supervisory Economist
CurrentSet the direction and goals of the Social Sciences Branch (SSB), incorporating the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), and the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) strategic goals and considering stakeholders’ needs, available resources, and gaps in the literature. Provide guidance in economics and social science methods, products, and information to support marine natural resource management. Review and approve for Directorate review economics and social science journal articles, scientific analyses, outreach documents, and other materials produced by staff within the SSB. Lead and participate in initiatives designed to strengthen the effectiveness of the SSB and serve on NMFS national or regional committees. Serve as supervisor of economics and social science staff and research projects. Accomplishments:• Supervise 13 federal staff in economics and social sciences• Provide support to 9 contractors as needed• Provide input and direction for “culture change” process within the Social Sciences Branch• Collaborate with NEFSC Budget and Finance Staff to manage contracts that SSB holds, including oversight of 13 funds in Fiscal Year 2021• Collaborate with NEFSC Budget and Finance Staff to manage contracts that SSB holds, including oversight of 13 funds in Fiscal Year 2021• Co-chair, NEFSC Women's Employee Resource Group
