Celebrity Editor And Stylist Smash Hits Magazine

Sydney, Australia

My wonderful and life changing introduction into the world of media and advertising. I worked on Smash Hits before children had instant access to entertainment, song lyrics and direct access to the private lives of celebrities. This magazine was their BTS glimpse of the world of celebrities and it was my responsibility to ask the likes of Beyoncé, Usher and Pink the hard hitting questions like, "What do you prefer, chocolate or strawberry ice cream?" and "When was your first kiss?". With the introduction and growing popularity of the Internet, came the demise of Smash Hits as our audience needn't spend their hard earned (or lavishly thrust upon them) pocket money on the throw away monthly. They increasingly had access to Guy Sebastian's private life and the latest Britney lyrics so I moved on from writing into Advertising and Marketing in 2005 where I have stayed put since.- Creation of exclusive celebrity focused content- Interviewing local and international acts- Styling and managing all celebrity shoots- Managing the photo budgets and relationships with photo libraries- Managing relationships with all record labels to secure access to local and international artistsKEY ACHIEVEMENT: - Developing the idea for the single most successful marketing covermount in the magazine's history... collectible band badges!
