Tammy Root serves as the Director of Human Resources for the United Way of Palm Beach County. She supports leadership with their human resources needs and provides complete human resources management services for the organization and supports the staff as a department of one. She previously provided human resource management services to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County partnering with club staff and all levels of leadership. She supported all human resources functions to support an average of 350 employees and managed two human resource generalists. Responsible for employee life cycle including recruitment, hiring, on/off boarding, new hire orientation, benefit administrations, HRIS systems, record management and reporting, risk management, legal liaison, employee relations, performance management, compliance and audit, COVID-19 regulations/requirements and monitoring.She also served as Project Leader, Agency Accreditation of Nonprofits First, Inc. where she provided consultative services, coordination and support to nonprofit clients for the Accreditation process. She possesses strong knowledge and expertise in Administration and Board Governance, Human Resource & Volunteer Management, and Financial Management. Her goal was to promote sound business practices and to strengthen the administrative capacity of nonprofit agencies. In July 2016 Tammy earned her SHRM-CP credentials. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Northwood University and is a Nonprofits First 2013 Rising Leaders Program graduate. Tammy has served as a training specialist at Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County where she gained extensive experience in coordinating professional development activities. She also earned her credentials as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) certified practitioner as recognized by the Center for Applications of Psychological Type, Inc. Tammy is also a former co-owner of small business franchise. She has served as an adjunct instructor at Palm Beach State College where she also gained experienced in career and technical education, human resources, and executive office administration.Tammy's community involvement included serving as a Board Member and Vice Chair of Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County, Inc.
