As Second Grade Teacher, design and plan curriculum for upcoming year, rotating through the core curriculum subjects, injecting innovative teaching strategies and new content into lesson plans. ♦ Instruct students, including those with behavior or academic challenges, and implement common core standards into the second grade curriculum.♦ Inject multiple types of training methods into teaching, using text, video, SmartBoard, slides, SMART Response, Interned, and iPads. ♦ Taught Response to Intervention, RTI, intervention for elementary students. Assigned to large group of students who test proficient in reading according to assessments; managed class size, created groups and planned enrichment activities scaled to their ability.♦ Organize, schedule, and plan field trips that serve as instructional opportunities for students.♦ As Crisis Team member, review emergency procedures such as lock-downs, tornado drills, and fire drills. Plan resources and procedures for counseling in the event of a tragedy. Initially recruited to teach Fourth Grade in a K12 school by the administrator after demonstrating teaching skills used in summer school and substitute teaching assignments. ♦ Ignited student interest in science through coaching the class to design, write, and perform plays after unit completion. Sample projects were the owl unit, “What a Hoot!” and the plant unit, “Circle of Life” featuring music, artwork, and acting. The children performed for Kindergarten through Third Grade.♦ Initiated and launched original Christmas musicals performed by the Fourth Grade in collaboration with the First Grade class for an audience composed of elementary students and their families. Students auditioned and were awarded key roles each year. ♦ As In-service Committee member, researched and planned topics and speakers for upcoming In-Service days.
