Profile bio

About Xueh Wei Tam

Since 2014, my advocacy work with various nonprofit organisations and movements has spanned across issues of gender justice, anti-human trafficking, and good governance.By day, I work with Think City's Social Resilience team, building resilience of B40 communities at public housing and increasing their quality of life. This includes programmes that surround themes of urban health, economic empowerment, poverty alleviation, public realm improvement and more.By night, my passion for gender justice gets to come out and play across sectors such as governance, sexual and reproductive health and rights, etc. In 2021, I organised a campaign (with the help of CSO partners and YSEALI's seed grant) called Gender Forward which champions gender-responsive budgeting and gender mainstreaming by building the capacities of parliamentary offices.I'm always looking to learn more, write more and do more. Reach out for opportunities to work together!“You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.” — Angela Davis

Engaging communities for social impact and people-friendly cities. In my first few months at Think City, I worked mainly on community engagement and desktop research for the Social Resilience and Placemaking (now called Urban Mechanics) team at Think City. With Social Resilience, I did a lot of outreach to the B40 communities at public housing with a focus on urban health and promoting social cohesion. Under Placemaking, I engaged with community members around the Merdeka118 tower for a study. Both were fulfilling work that platformed the voices of those who should be heard.
