Think City is an impact organisation dedicated to making cities more liveable, resilient and sustainable. The Environment & Social team works on enhancing the resilience of the environment and people, with particular focus on supporting vulnerable populations in a sustainable way through designing locally relevant solutions. Some of the work I do:> Project Management: Manage programmes for B40 communities at low-cost housing that tackle various issues such as urban health issues, livelihood, education, etc. This ranges from conceptualising a project to implementation and then impact reporting.> Community Engagement: Work closely with communities to address their needs and facilitate relevant programmes through focus group discussions and reporting.> Stakeholder Management: Manage relations between community members, civil society organisations, funders and governmental bodies on various projects.> Grants Management: Using small grants as a catalytic tool for empowering communities across 10 public housing locations, and addressing issues pertaining to community well-being.

Engaging communities for social impact and people-friendly cities.In my first few months at Think City, I worked mainly on community engagement and desktop research for the Social Resilience and Placemaking (now called Urban Mechanics) team at Think City. With Social Resilience, I did a lot of outreach to the B40 communities at public housing with a focus on urban health and promoting social cohesion. Under Placemaking, I engaged with community members around the Merdeka118 tower for a study. Both were fulfilling work that platformed the voices of those who should be heard.

Project Liber8 is an organisation that aims to shift attitudes and behaviour of the public, and specifically youths, to stop exploitation and human trafficking — an issue that affects 40 million people globally.As the Operations Manager, I led the initiatives within the organisation and oversaw everything from planning to execution. My last project was Advoc8: On The Road, a nationwide campaign to secondary schools and universities to cultivate youth advocates. Particularly, I worked on the university edition which focused on the issue of exploitation within women's labour migration by developing a learning manual and conducting outreach.TL;DR> Project Management: Managed two nationwide public education initiatives with intergovernmental agencies. > Public Education: Developed and presented workshop modules on topics of human trafficking, and the issue of exploitation for women in labour migration. > Communications: Designed campaigns, both on social media and on ground, through engaging public installations.> Stakeholder Management: Worked with community-based organisations, civil society organisations, and governmental bodies on various projects and campaigns.> Worked on campaigns pertaining to issues of forced labour, child labour, and migrant workers' rights as well.

AWAM is an independent feminist NGO that was founded in the 1980s; some of responsibilities:> Developed case studies on the issue of politicisation of ethnicity and religion with regards to gender issues. > Content creation: Developed materials for AWAM’s social media platforms and a fundraising campaign.> Rapporteur and managed administratively for workshops.awam.org.my

I curated and executed article ideas. Leaving the office for interviews, food reviews and event covering was easily part of my job scope too. I've covered numerous notable events while I was with Dino Media, including MTV World Stage and the VISA Financial Literacy campaign launch.At one point, I stepped up as Sub-Editor to ensure our articles were on par for publishing.

eHomemakers is an NGO that works with urban poor women to improve their livelihoods via the skill transfer of eco-basket weaving, as well as entrepreneurship & IT skills.When I was an Intern Coordinator with them, I assisted the rebranding and led the social media management of the eco-basket weaving initiative, renamed to EnWeave. There had also been the works of having the project be part of Malaysia's Book of Records, and as a CSR with Club Med.There was also a Work-Life Balance international conference, whereby I had to engage with 10 different social media managers from the 10 ASEAN countries to volunteer with us.

My responsibilities included doing on ground reporting and producing articles on a daily basis.
