I am a Leader and Occupational Therapist. I’ve been an OT for 21 years. I wanted to be a teacher from the time I could remember and follow in my grandmother’s footsteps, but when I found OT I found my own path. With OT I have the opportunity to provide 1:1 training for life skills, however my desire to teach never went away. That desire was molded into something outside a classroom. However, sharing what I know with students, my teams and community has taken me into that setting at times. My passion for leadership was sparked early in my career with a manager I wanted to emulate. She set our team up for success gracefully. I set my eyes on being my own version of her. I have accomplished that goal through roles as a case manager, supervisor and manager and problem solving workplace and life challenges.Healthcare is ever moving and changing to meet the complex needs of the people we serve and the people serving them, so I can’t say I will ever be done growing, learning or teaching. As I move through to the next work challenge I take with me my experience. Outpatient, inpatient, home health, hospice, skilled nursing, school based settings and life- I take them all with me. I take the patients I’ve cared for and the staff I have lead. I also take what makes me. I’m a wife and a mom of twin boys. I love adventure and am a pretty darn good off-road map and compass navigator. I have honed skills in time management, interpersonal communication, problem solving and process improvement. I enjoy working with my team and I couldn’t do my job without them.
