After completing my graduation, I joined the family business and immersed myself in its intricacies. However, unfortunate circumstances arose when the global pandemic hit, leading to the closure of our retail shop due to lockdown restrictions. As a traditional offline store that primarily operated on cash transactions, we had to adapt to the new normal.Seizing this opportunity, I ventured into selling snacks and mithais online through WhatsApp groups. Leveraging our extensive family network, sourcing mithais was not a challenge, and I ensured prompt and hassle-free home delivery services for our customers. The quality of my products and the exceptional service I provided garnered attention and positive feedback from clients. Consequently, my business thrived through word-of-mouth referrals, allowing me to generate substantial revenue during the lockdown.After a year of running the business successfully, I realized the need to target and cater to a premium clientele, which was a new territory for our family. Thus, I launched my second brand, "Pistabarfi Mithai," focusing on premium packaging while staying true to our core strength of manufacturing traditional mithais. While other confectioners were exploring fusion mithais, we remained rooted in our Indian heritage. We incorporated creative premium packaging and showcased local Gond art with timeless aesthetics.Within a year of introducing this new brand, both individuals and renowned brands recognized our uniqueness. The icing on the cake came when VOGUE featured our story in one of their festive articles, alongside well-established players in the industry. This recognition further boosted our credibility and expanded our reach.Through my journey as a mithai entrepreneur, I have demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to preserving our cultural heritage. its been almost 5 years to this adventure and I look forward to continuing to innovate and create exceptional experiences for my customers.
