As a Resident Coordinator in the Roots to Grow program, I live on-site in a transitional housing program for 10 Transitional Age Young Adults ( 18-25 years old) in a shared living arrangement. Safe place for youth recognizes the importance of supporting individuals as they transition off the streets into stable housing. I am responsible for general oversight of the property, cleanliness, safety, crisis responses, and conflict management.Trauma-informed care, harm reduction, positive youth development and low-barrier approaches are centered throughout the program. Residents work toward long-term housing, financial literacy, education, employment, daily living skills, and other identified needs, in order to prepare the young adults for successful independent living. LACOE provides a range of programs and services to support the county's 80 school districts and more than 2 million preschool and school-age children. As a Foster Youth Voice Representative I consult with the Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program, give insight and feedback on services and resources that are provided to foster youth in schools throughout LA County. I meet with staff , students , educators and service reps to ensure the voices of foster youth are amplified.
