Carson Business Solutions is a free program through Washington State University that small businesses around the state can apply for. The purpose of the program was to identify problem and/or opportunity areas within the business and put together a report of actionable, data-driven recommendations to help the organization succeed. I led a team of 5 students to assist Willow Falcon and her small business (Noshies), a specialty wine, beer, and foods shop in downtown Pullman. I organized the team's work and progress and was the main point of contact between our client and team. Working with a small business owner as a student team requires a high level of professionalism, detail, and respect. I was confidently able to communicate amongst both parties and facilitate the team to a set of deliverables for the client.

I worked as a “Bevmologist” in Bellevue during the summer of 2020. My tasks included picking online orders, stocking and facing the floor, cleaning, customer service, general operational things. The aspect of the job that was especially intriguing to me was the pallet tasting and learning opportunities. With the wine and spirits industry being so large, understanding some key terms and flavor profiles was important in helping a customer find their right drink. Occasionally our manager would run tastings with us but most of the time it was representatives from different distributors. I saw this job as an excellent introduction into the wine and spirits industry.

The most challenging and integral duty was maintaining the cleanliness of the house by planning, motivating, and controlling chores and house cleans. I would frequently inventory supplies and order more accordingly. I would also take care of any failures or broken items within the house. Communication is an essential part as well as the house is not owned by Beta Theta Pi but rather by the Gamma Delta Building Association. Random updates, usually frequenting every week, would need to be given from me to multiple recipients and being that our house is undergoing renovations soon, specific measurements and details would need to be given from me to them.
