If there's one thing I've considered fun throughout my life, I'd have to go with problem solving. Ever since I was little I've been solving problems in my sister's Carmen Sandiego computer games and building little circuits to perform some minor tasks for myself in my childhood bedroom. No one should be surprised that I ended up moving into data and BI engineering. I've been able to use the skills I've gathered from Purdue, my professional life, and my own personal life to develop what I and others consider to be an ambitious work ethic. For starters, coding is one of my favorite things to do. It's one of the most versatile disciplines in the world and since I've opened my first C++ book in high school and thought "oh god this is way too intense," surprisingly, I was sold. Since then I've found more and more ways to pivot my computer science knowledge into the world of data engineering, starting my professional life doing straight ETL work in SQL to creating entire database systems for analytics teams and higher ups to ingest.Past all of that, there's skills I've developed in my personal life that I've been able to pivot into my work life. The esports world holds an interesting place in my heart. Most people see it as a bunch of geeks wasting their time, as one of the main organizers in Denver I'd disagree. Because of esports I've been dealing with the mental stress of managing event staffs of 20+ people, run events attended by over 250 people from around the country, and been able to connect with all of them and then some. Besides the interpersonal skills I've developed graphic design skills from making advertisements that I've been able to bring into BI reporting, how to perform well under extreme pressure, and most importantly how to get along in a world with people from every walk of life.Life's a constant learning process, no one is ever going to know everything but I've been gifted the will to keep learning to better both myself and my professional life.
