I am a teacher assistant for a reporting course taught by the former executive editor of the St. Petersburg Times, Mike Foley. The course centers on producing exemplary print journalism stories and conducting interviews. In this role, I edit 30+ students' news stories prior to their submission, both in and out of the classroom.

I produced feature articles weekly that covered a variety of topics. These stories ranged from mental health to meeting celebrities and were curated to resonate with young readers.

In collaboration with other students, I established Burlington Central High School's first podcast entitled "Sincerely, Gen Z." The other co-hosts and I evaluated current events from the perspective of Gen Z and would often invite peers and faculty to join our weekly episodes.

During this program, I studied and rehearsed journalism ethics, writing, broadcasting, audio, photojournalism, interviewing and more under university professors. I attended lectures and Q&A sessions from professionals in the field, including CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez and former People Magazine correspondent Cynthia Wang. I produced feature stories, op-eds and news articles that were reviewed by university professors.

I produced pieces for the Stanford Daily newspaper that covered events which concerned students enrolled at the university, including COVID-19 policies and musical performances. I conducted interviews with university professors and students. I was able to gain experience reporting on breaking news by participating in simulations which required an article, complete with interviews, to be produced in under thirty minutes.
