Kalium Heakth aims to address the unmet healthcare need for rapid blood electrolyte monitoring in a home or decentralised healthcare setting. Millions of people suffer from blood electrolyte imbalances - potassium is one important electrolyte which, if outside of the normal range, can cause severe clinical problems and even sudden death. There currently exists no practical means of measuring potassium levels outside of specialist hospital or laboratory facilities, meaning delay, inconvenience and potential danger. Kalium’s first product will be a home/primary care-use fingerstick kit for self-measurement of potassium levels in a tiny drop of blood.
