I have significant of experience working in local government.In my current role, I am responsible for helping to create and promote the right conditions for sustainable schools to thrive. Key responsibilities are as follows:• Work closely with local elected members to articulate their vision, deliver strategic priorities, manage risks and maintain openness in the delivery, performance and scrutiny of services.• Lead in the review, development and implementation of major policy areas and strategic place planning and commissioning functions to meet the needs of diverse communities. • Responsible for the operational and strategic leadership and management of two high performance teams totalling 16 full time members of staff.• Coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams and build strong partnerships with local autonomous partners, agencies, parish councils and government departments.• Provide expert advice to Chief Officers and Elected Members taking account of emerging local/national policy issues and legislative change.• Accountable to the School Capital Board and responsible for enabling support/challenge and reporting progress and performance of major projects.• Responsible for the fair and effective deployment and expenditure of revenue budgets worth a total of £19m and a Capital Programme worth £98m.• Lead and monitor the Council’s effectiveness of the Council’s Fair Access Protocol and Admission Arrangements ensuring compliance to statutory codes and guidance. Additional responsibilities include fulfilling key statutory functions of the Council including, school admissions/fair access, home to school transport, sufficiency of early years provision, specialist and mainstream place planning including negotiation with developers for land and financial contributions for new education infrastructure.
