About Tapas P.
I am an Energy Scientist with 10+ years of experience across the private sector, academia and government organizations with a focus on climate change, air pollution and environmental justice in the transportation and power sector in the developing and developed economies. My research interests include:1. Climate Change2. Air Pollution3. Environmental Justice4. Developing Economies5. Electric Vehicles & Renewable energy integration6. Energy Policy7. Market Structure Design8. Modeling & OptimizationRecently, I got awarded Shultz Energy Fellowship to work on a project looking at Priority Population Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Refueling with California Air Resources Board (CARB). Priority populations, such as disadvantaged communities, low income communities, and low income households, are especially vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. A number of California Air Resources Board programs provide funding assistance for lower-income consumers to replace older vehicles with cleaner technology, including ZEVs. In addition to vehicle purchase incentives, state programs and settlement activities have funded significant public charging infrastructure installations in disadvantaged or low income communities. This project aimed at exploring hydrogen and electric vehicle fueling station accessibility and utilization in these locations to better understand community use. Previously, I worked as a Senior Operations Research Analyst in the Power and Electric Market with Power Costs Inc. that provides customized software solutions to the Gas and Electric Companies in Region Americas. Having a strong interest in this domain, I created large scale optimization models for Crude Oil Price and Dow Jones Industrial Average Forecasting using Machine Learning during my research at Carnegie Mellon University. As a process engineer with Mondelez International (formerly with Kraft Foods), I worked on projects that dealt with Six Sigma Implementation in the plant. During my internship at Reliance Industries Limited, a global leader in Petrochemical Production, I worked on three live and diverse troubleshooting projects with the Central Technical Services in Crude/Vacuum Distillation Unit.Core Competencies #Research & Analysis #Machine Learning #Energy Systems Modeling #Geospatial Analytics #Mathematical Optimization #Data Analytics and Visualization #BIRT Report Designing #Life-cycle assessment #Tableau #GREET #R #QGIS #GAMS #InMAP #Javascript
