The role largely entails planning and directing the creation of material for maintaining and enhancing the public image of the company, as well as increasing overall sales. The role was varied and essentially included implementation of marketing projects to support the Engen brand in Zimbabwe. I often conducted research and analysed marketing trends, planned campaigns and developed strategies, managed the departmental budget, as well as monitoring and reporting on the success of campaigns.Duties Included:- Deploying successful marketing campaigns and implementation from ideation to execution.- Producing valuable and engaging content for publications, the corporate website and social media to attract and convert target groups.- Building and maintaining strategic relationships and partnerships with agencies and vendors.- Overseeing and approving marketing collateral, from point of sale material to hard copy brochures and case studies.

I was responsible for the overall client satisfaction, strategy, and program delivery for assigned accounts. The role entailed being the primary relationship owner and project manager for all deliverables coordinating advertising and promotional campaigns post client approval, tracking budgets and costs, and ensuring that the projects run smoothly. Duties Included: - Planning, implementing and tracking of traditional and digital media campaigns for the wide and varied portfolio of Unilever brands.- Developing media plans, strategic placement of advertisements across various media channels and coordinating with vendor contacts for optimal negotiations.- Proficiency in managing numbers through excel documents to match client budgets.- Effective time-management, impeccable attention to detail and a compulsive ability to stay organised amidst many moving parts.- Ensuring effective campaign set-ups, traffic of creative, execution, monitoring, finalisation of campaigns and presenting output back to client in the form of monthly performance reports.

My one-year internship at a brand-focused agency allowed me to experience the different departments and activities that make up an agency. I was privileged enough to work with some of Zimbabwe’s long established and prestigious brands such as Delta Corporation, Coca cola, Econet, Unilever, OK Zimbabwe limited and Lafarge.
