About Tara Mcmahon

I have been working for the City of Toronto since I was fourteen years old (2016). I began my job as a Wading Pool Attendant outdoors in the summer, after my completion of the Bronze Cross Award. I stayed doing the same thing for two summers, and upon finishing my National Lifeguard award, and Swim Instructor awards, I was promoted to an Instructor/Guard position (2018). I was eager to keep climbing the ladder to begin working in a leadership-based role, and after enough experience and studying the pool manuals, I was promoted to be a Pool-In-Charge (2019). I am now aiming for another position, an Aquatic Coordinator. I have everything I need aside from a G class licence which I am trying to have by the end of 2021. I currently attend George Brown College for their Pre-Health Science Pathway certificate and plan on applying to the George Brown-Ryerson and Humber-Guelph Registered Nursing programs by the end of 2021. My goals are to graduate from the nursing program before 2026, and be employed full-time as a nurse before 2027!

I have worked towards promotions, and I am now a Pool-In-Charge that is responsible for working with a diverse set of patrons, providing customer service when necessary, working to the standards of many laws such as OHSA, and AODA to name a few. As a supervisor to lifeguards, I mentor younger staff into becoming better lifeguards, and ensure everything needing to be complete Is done. Incident reports, report cards, and other daily paperwork is completed by me, and I ensure to communicate all issues to my superiors.
