Profile bio

About Tarana K.

I completed my Bachelor's in Science and Master's in Education with a Teach NSW scholarship, landing in the Dean's Merit. I am the Stage 6 NSW Senior Curriculum Leader at the Indie School, where I manage and oversee the teaching and learning programs and operational management for Stage 6 students. My role involves ensuring compliance with curriculum standards, leading curriculum implementation, supporting staff development, and managing assessment processes. I also assist policy development and review, strategic planning, and provide mentorship to staff, ensuring that educational practices align with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and Assessment Certification Examination (ACE) requirements. I also hold the role of Internal Auditor, overseeing compliance audits across 31 alternative high schools that prioritise flexibility and foster tailored learning and individualised support in supportive environments founded in Adult Education philosophies. Before assuming the role of Internal Auditor, I served as a teacher at Indie School, where I played a pivotal role in delivering a dynamic and personalised learning experience to students. Previously, I was Head Teacher of the Science and Computing faculty, overseeing a team of 13 staff members. My teaching experience spans various subjects and grade levels, including fourteen Stage 6 (Year 11-12) classes across seven subjects. I've also had the privilege of serving as a Biology HSC marker in 2020 and 2021. In addition to my teaching roles, I have held positions of responsibility within school settings, such as Year and Transition Advisor. I have also contributed to educational organisations, fulfilling roles with the New South Wales Teachers Federation (NSWTF) as the Woman's Contact and Annual Conference Delegate and serving as the NSW Canterbury Bankstown Association (CBTA) Treasurer. My career has afforded me extensive knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and hands-on experience in educational consulting, leadership, and various aspects of school management.
