- Continued the success of the nation’s first mold surveillance program while taking on the added responsibility of another project, the Candidemia surveillance project.- Trained and managed a 3-person team on data reporting standards and disease surveillance practices to accomplish goals of Candidemia and Mold programs.- Coordinated accurate and timely data transmission with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), including specimen shipments for both projects made bimonthly, and other irregular requests made by the CDC for special projects.- Created annual feedback reports through SAS for participating hospital laboratories on antifungal susceptibilities from submitted isolates sent to the CDC. These reports effectively communicated the results of disease surveillance.- Maintained data integrity through the writing of SAS code to identify incorrect or missing data, reviewed code provided by the CDC, and reviewed Case Report Forms (CRFs) prior to data entry for completion and accuracy.- Effectively communicated project outcomes and data for both projects on a quarterly basis, leveraging ArcGIS, SAS, PowerPoint, Excel, and other data visualization tools.- Provided staff training on both project’s backgrounds, goals, and how to accurately complete CRFs.- Represented Georgia EIP on monthly conference calls for each project, with other states’ EIP sites, various CDC partners, and lead investigators. • Started sentinel mold surveillance project, the first of its kind in the nation. Founding the project included: creating protocols based on other successful surveillance projects, preparing documents for IRB submission, evaluating criteria for definition of a mold-case, establishing lab-based surveillance in regional hospital labs, creating a PHI database, testing a REDCap database created by CDC, and working with hospital staff to secure routine audits and specimen collection for pathology and ancillary tests - a first for the Georgia EIP.• Writes articles for semi-annual newsletter.• Contributed to user guide on how to complete case report forms.• Created exclusionary search algorithm for text-based reports to review expansive pathology audits from hospitals. Reviewed microbiology audits to identify cases not identified by specimens received in lab.
