I currently serve as the Generalist for the Science Museum of Minnesota's STEM Education Department, a role that has many facets. I have done everything from preparing materials for conferences, tabling at events for educators, preparing for and assisting in the running of conferences, and scheduling our outreach programs. I also manage confidential databases, supervise in-house programming, coordinate with external partners, and process invoices and travel paperwork.In my previous occupations as a student, I served as the Student Curator for the Chester Johnson Geology Museum, which is located on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. In my role, I designed over a dozen exhibits for our brand new facility, including both static and interactive. I created the visuals, picked the specimens from the department collection, made entries into our database for new specimens, and catalogued the relocation of all of the old specimens after moving to the new facility. I also served as the president of the Gustavus Geology Club, an organization comprised of the members of the geology department, environmental studies students, and anyone else who is interested in learning about the earth. We have deigned activities for a number of community engagement programs held by Gustavus, including Science on Saturday and Discover the Outdoors--both programs designed to facilitate an enjoyment of science and the environment. My skills include database management, writing (creative, communicative, and scientific), caring for museum collections, exhibit design, customer service skills, and proficiency with all Microsoft Office products as well as other internal systems such as Tessitura and Microix, and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom and Google Meets.I have a passion for bringing people together with science, especially if they've never had the chance to be exposed to it before! Regardless of age, gender, ability or any other background, science should be for everyone. I hope to continue working in the non-profit science community so that I can help facilitate this, since museums were what helped me fall in love with science at a young age.
