Undergraduate Fellow
Derek Bok Center For Teaching And Learning At Harvard University
Worked with Harvard faculty and Bok Center staff to devise and modify assignments to fit the new Gen-Ed curriculum for the following academic year. Development of new material involved ideation of new projects and assignments, coordinating beta-testing, and gathering feedback and student experiences for presentation to the faculty. Applied Theatre and Gilgamesh:A specific assignment I devised, tested, and presented that summer was one that involved using the elements of theatre to analyze the Epic of Gilgamesh. This assignment combined traditional modes of analysis and challenged students to determine how specific conclusions about the text could be communicated through mediums such as light, sound, set design, and costumes. This assignment was successfully implemented as an option for the final assignment in the course "Ancient Lives." For the course, the culminating production was overseen by the Education and Engagement Director at the American Repertory Theatre. Houghton Library Collaboration:I assisted with the collaboration between the Bok Center and Harvard's Houghton Library, concerning the research of a group of Houghton Student Fellows and Librarians. In order to communicate their work and the potential for the fellowship, we captured a series of videos on the program. I helped conduct interviews with the fellows as they discussed certain items in the Houghton collection and how they related to their wider research topic. The whole project involved asking the fellows and librarians generative questions, filming the interviews, and capturing interesting and relevant b-roll of Houghton Library and it's incredible collection.
