North Syria

Project Coordinator – North Syria (2017 – 2018)Overall responsibility for the rapid project expansion of MSF activities in Kobane & Manbij, Northern Syria following intense regional conflict. Focusing on emergency medical relief for internally displaced populations and overwhelmed host communities. Project responsible for the design, oversight and management of a 7 million EUR operational budget with 200 national / international personnel. Succeeded in extremely challenging negotiations for access to humanitarian working space with self-appointed officials - bilateral talks with multiple stake holders. Managed security without major incident in a turbulent and violent context, working on the front lines, negotiating with military officials, Militia / Tribal leaders and various community stakeholders for successful safe working conditions.

Ethiopia

Project Coordinator – Ethiopia Somali region Led the scale up of activities designed to assist in widespread malnutrition and cholera crisis. Directly responsible for the security management and bilateral negotiations with tribal leaders and Military / Gov. officials. Collaborated with key stakeholders including the Ministry of Health, United Nations and NGO on intervention strategy and contingency planning.

Project Coordinator / Logistical Manager – Search and Rescue activities offshore Libya / Mediterranean Sea (2016 – 2017) Responsible for the MSF SAR related activities onboard MV Aquarius. Participated and lead 50+ rescue operations. Including high stress mass causalities scenarios. Coordinated large number of international journalists on board - gave full briefings and facilitated their stay within certain parameters. Represented MSF through interviews in the media including Al Jazeera / BBC / Times / 5 Live and other international outlets. Drafted press releases with comms team, designed and implemented crisis communications plan, participated and drove MSF advocacy strategy.
