About Taylor Cooney

Trying to save the planet! 🧬🩺🌿🥦A microbiologist turned chemical immunology PhD graduate. My diverse research background has created a varied skill set from virus production, animal handling, to chemical synthesis and compound analysis, to investment and entrepreneurship. I completed my undergraduate study in Microbiology and Immunology and PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, designing and synthesizing novel drug compounds and undertaking the relevant biological testing. Following this I have held roles as a Scientist at Avalia Immunotherapies, and a Post Doc at the Ferrier Research Institute contracted to a commercial US based project. I have also been a member of the Momentum Investment Committee where I served as a Committee member and Chairperson. I am currently a Scientific Strategy Associate at the BioInnovation Institute, scouting for novel and translational research with commercialisation potential, undertaking due-diligence and project screening, and anchoring current projects in our portfolio. I have a keen interest in planetary health, carbon removal, alternative foods, and biobased materials.
