At Backcountry Magazine, we worked in a three-person editorial system. Along with the Managing Editor, I assigned, edited and/or wrote a majority of the magazine's content. This included profiles, destination pieces, and perhaps most daunting, gear reviews. Aside from the relatively straightforward content production side, working for a small independent publication involved coordinating with public relations representatives, a heavy dose of travel, and lots of coffee.
