Tom is a life long volunteer and derives a great deal of pleasure maintaining relationships across the world. He is an experienced and detail-oriented advisor helping philanthropists, charities, foundations and social impact organizations successfully achieve their Missions.Tom's professional experience includes the corporate sector (Bell Canada Group), consultant to small enterprises at the dawn of the internet era (IainLauren Consulting Inc), hospital foundation (West Park) and public education (Toronto District School Board) engaging the business sector to support the Board in innovative ways.He was part of a group of volunteers who provided leadership in the turnaround of the Toronto Christian Resource Centre (CRC) now part of Fred Victor, a community hub in Regent Park. The volunteer group, without the benefit of staff or consultant fund development resources, secured $22 million in capital funding to build an innovative community hub and 87 units of affordable housing.Tom is Past Chair of the Trustees of Endowment Fund Committee at Bloor Street United Church, a committee which he served on for over 20 years.He has a decades-long history of local and national volunteer leadership including: Honorary Board at the CRC (now Fred Victor); Treasurer and Board of Directors of The Dr Charles H Best Foundation; Volunteer Consultant to not for profit organizations through MAS Consulting; three time Past Chair of the Stewardship Committee at Bloor Street United Church; Toronto Christian Resource Centre (now Fred Victor) – Board of Directors, Co-Chair Long Term Sustainability Committee and Volunteer Philanthropy Counsel to donor families; Katimavik Foundation Board of Directors; Founder, Cottage Dreams Recovery Initiative; County of Haliburton – Chair Economic Diversification Committee; West End YMCA – Regional Council Member, Youth Zone Capital Campaign Cabinet; Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni Association Board of Directors ; Toronto Board of Trade; Toronto Junior Board of Trade/Toronto Jaycees.Tom is available for interim assignments typically during times of significant change in organizations.
