When I was 12 years old, I flew a Cessna 172 for the first time out of PTI Airport in Greensboro, NC. In that moment, I became hooked on aviation. Years later, I now hold a private pilot license and have an abundance of flight time under my belt, but it isn't being a pilot that I truly dream of. Instead, I strive to engineer the future of general aviation to improve the field that made me who I am.Today, I continue to work towards that goal through my academic coursework, research experience, and expanding upon my technical skills. I am confident in my abilities in subjects such as statics, aerodynamics, solid mechanics, and dynamics. I have a strong foundation in math and physics, demonstrated by my multiple appearances on the Dean’s List at both NC State and NC A&T. In addition to conceptual knowledge, I possess valuable skills learned in MATLAB and 3D modeling to help me succeed outside of academia. My skills can be demonstrated by the SolidWorks Mechanical Design Associate certificate I earned in the fall of 2022. I also have experience with CNC machining, woodworking, and 3D printing, which are shown in my portfolio of completed projects. Being well-rounded is something I value, which is why I am pursuing minors in interdisciplinary leadership and engineering education in addition to my major studies. Through these programs, I’ve been able to merge my understanding of engineering design with pedagogy, and I’ve gained conceptual knowledge on how I can play a part in making my teams successful. My leadership and teamwork skills have been put to work in various capacities, including in a management position at the Greensboro Science Center. While I still have a lot to learn, I am confident in my ability to play a valuable part in innovating a better future in the aerospace field.
