Effecting change in lives. My entire childhood I watched my parents “save the world” as police officers or what I thought of as super hero’s. As I was coming of age there was no doubt that I was destined to take over the family business. An application and lengthy interview process landed me in a 911 Dispatch Center at Sullivan County Sheriffs Office. After a few years of coaching callers through the worst day of their life, then guarding the walls of the local jail, I was shipped off to the Police Academy at 21 years old. After many months of training I finally received my keys to a 2011 Crown Victoria. My Field Training Officer asked why I decided to be a cop. After pondering a better answer than, “It’s just the family business.” I responded with, “I’d like to effect change in peoples lives in my community.” It became my mantra. After a several years of court and call-outs on my recovery days, I was feeling “meh.” I went to Nashville, TN to effect change in something else I was passionate about. Food. I cooked my way to the top, becoming the first General Manager of the brand new ‘za Wood-Fired Pizza in Hillsboro Village, where I worked in an open kitchen and got to interact with each of my customers. COVID-19 had other plans for the food industry. In what seemed like only a week, my entire industry had been brought to its knees. Naturally layoffs and pay cuts were next as we tried to stay afloat, but as rent prices rose, and wages decreased, I was going broke. Necessity called, and I noticed as everyone was trapped in their homes to avoid the virus, they began to see all of the projects that they had been putting off. I dusted off my old tools, and started effecting change in peoples homes. I built my own business, which then planted in my hometown of Kingsport, TN, then my personal experience in management and construction landed me at Window World of the Tri Cities. After three career changes in the short time I’ve had to learn, one thing has stood out more than any. My goal is to effect change in peoples lives through leadership, coaching, and continuing to build relationships and networks all over the State of Tennessee and beyond.
