The goal of this contract is to develop a long-term HIE strategic plan with key HIE stakeholders in clinical technology leadership and IT leadership. The plan will include an analysis of existing technologies at HCA, system requirements, and "near-neighbor" technologies; comprehensive documentation of current system functionality; a long-term strategic plan; and an implementation plan for the chosen strategic path.

In this role, I am responsible for driving a Medical Device Integration program at HCA, and make the data from these devices available for internal uses. The program is responsible for developing a repeatable and consistent path for integrating the devices in our hospitals, and ensure the speedy and accurate delivery of the data.

Overall my Data Innovations role at HCA was to institute and drive new product development for the Enterprise Integration department. During this time, the Data Innovations team developed multiple products at HCA, including an HIE interoperability platform, the FHIR service platform, a patient/caregiver notification platform, and more.The largest product, and one we continue to manage and evolve, is a FHIR service program for HCA. Through these restful web services, my team has integrated data from 180+ EMR instances (as well as other data sources) to a single FHIR server platform built in-house by our FHIR development team. The FHIR services are used by dozens of internal projects and vendor solutions to access patient data from a single, shared source, ensuring all applications have the same view of the patient's record. The services are accessed millions of times each day by our consumers, and are an integral part of our data ecosystem. Using this system, HCA has saved money in integration efforts, reduced development time, and increased the consistency of data accessed by our users.

Manage 4 software products in ICA's CareAlign product line, and the teams that develop those products. Responsibilities include managing the product roadmap, scheduling and prioritizing product features and product releases, and day-to-day operations of the development teams.ICA is a provider of HIE (Health Information Enterprise) solutions. ICA's CareAlign product suite provides interoperability for HIE member practices, connecting individual practices to a larger network of patient data. This network provides data to caregivers that can be used for patient care, transitions of care, and other uses where physician practices and hospitals need to share medical records with each other electronically.Key Accomplishments:* Established SDLC processes and development practices at ICA* Oversee development of 4 product teams* Drove re-implementation of ICA's HIPAA policies, and acted as HIPAA security officer for 1 year

Managed GHX's ConnectPlus product and development team. ConnectPlus is a software and hardware solution that connects GHX's customer systems to GHX's data services. This on-premise solution provides a means for GHX to customize the solution to fit the needs of the customer. During my tenure, ConnectPlus grew from about 130 installations, to over 1000 installations, all centrally monitored and maintained by GHX staff.GHX provides supply chain management solutions to the healthcare industry, streamlining what was previously a fax-and-paper process.Key Accomplishments:* Developed ConnectPlus into a standardized, repeatable deployment* Provided product leadership for ConnectPlus* Led the development team, and oversaw the re-development of ConnectPlus

Medibuy was purchased by GHX shortly after I was hired. I was subsequently hired by GHX (see above).

Developed software as part of a development team, in Java and C, and acted as a subject matter expert and lead engineer for many Cloverleaf customers. The position required travelling to client locations around the US, as well as in London and Saudi Arabia. Also required were the confidence to meet and work with customers in unfamiliar situations, client management skills and communication skills, and deep technical knowledge of the Cloverleaf product. Other technical skills included knowledge of networking infrastructure (both Ethernet and SNA), Unix administration skills, and development in multiple languages (including Tcl, Java, shell scripting, Perl and more).

Hired as a developer on the Association Office product, I quickly moved to interacting with customers in implementing the software at customer locations throughout the DC Metro area. Virtualogic was purchased by a larger technology company around the year 2000.

Acted as liaison between the IT department and the hospital staff; initially assigned to help deploy a cardiology system in the hospital's cardiology department, I quickly moved on to work on a large integration project using Cloverleaf. Georgetown outsourced their IT department in 1996, and while I was offered a position with the outsourcing company, I chose to move on to Virtualogic.
