Under Dr. Peter Burns, I work towards developing new actinide materials. Our work is centralized on understanding the basic science of the actinides, the fuel of nuclear energy. I work in particular with borosulfate chemistry, oxalate chemistry, and general synthesis techniques.

As a Jeannette K. Watson Fellow, I was awarded a highly selective three-year fellowship that develops the potential of promising students to become effective and humane leaders. Selection criteria include high standards, leadership, ambition, ability to work in teams, interest in exploring diverse cultures, and integrity.

I conduct theoretical research aimed at understanding how orientation and folding of proteins and monomers lead to large-scale changes in the cell, and how these changes influence molecular interactions. These structures are caused by mutations associated with Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases.

I conducted an inorganic research project, focusing on the growth of hollow and plant-like microstructures from colloidal sulfur seeds. I obtained and studied biomorphic structures and was able to expand the synthetic protocols in order to allow the formation of a wider variety of metal sulfide microstructures. This research may lead to significant developments in applied areas of catalysis, sensing, and microfluidics.

At American Documentary, I worked with POV- television's longest-running showcase for independent non-fiction films. I created, edited, and released press content through a variety of platforms as well as contacted and built relationships with filmmakers and producers.
