I came onto the Digital Banking team at Mission Fed as a full stack web developer. Our small team owned the entire codebase for the digital banking platform servicing over 300,000 members and $6 billion in assets. This gave me the opportunity to add to my skillset with new-to-me technologies like PHP and C# while continuing to polish my skills in Angular, Javascript, and Java. My team pioneered the Agile transformation in Mission Fed, setting an example for over a dozen teams that transitioned to Scrum after us.My initiatives included:- A full re-write of the Mission2Save platform. Created new tables in MySQL database to store user deposits. Updated nightly PHP scripts to point to new database. Created new PHP endpoints to integrate with member and admin facing front ends. Created an identical member facing front end using Angular for a continuous user experience. Integrated feature with Okta for identity management. Deployed front end to WP Engine and backend on internal Windows servers.- Created feature flags in MySQL database and C# endpoints to toggle them as well as an internal admin portal for even easier access. Added those feature flags to member facing Angular front end.- Wrote scheduled tasks in PHP and deployed them on internal Windows servers.- Wrote monitoring script in PHP that gave us advanced warning of suspicious activity on our site.- Integrated our new member application (written in Angular) with Alloy to help reduce fraudulent applications.- Created new endpoint in Java backend that retrieved end of year tax information for members to conveniently view.- Remediated cyber security flaws and WCAG non-compliant portions in our Javascript front end and Java backend.- Wrote automated UI testing in Cyprus and integration tests in C# back end.- Created new tables in MySQL database to track SSO payloads with third parties. Logged the SSO payloads in Java backend without adding significant overhead to code base.

Climb Naked is a small business making hats for rock climbers. We believe that the physical expression of climbing and the community that builds around it give people the opportunity to become their truest, best selves. Climb Naked isn’t about taking your shirt off (although you can if you want), it’s about shedding fear and shame, and allowing yourself to flourish. 10% of our profits are donated to The Access Fund to protect public climbing lands.At Climb Naked I built an e-commerce site using Angular, Node.js, and Express.js. I developed the site from schematics I designed while accepting feedback and feature requests from my Co-Founder. I deployed the front end and API to EC2 instances in a virtual private cloud (VPC) on AWS. Using Nginx, I set up the EC2 instances to accept HTTPS traffic. As AWS admin, I set up the domain, routing, security groups, and load balancer for the VPC.Features I implemented include:- A checkout flow integrated with Stripe to process credit card payments.- A marketing email sign up list with email addresses stored in AWS DynamoDB.- Feature flags for continuous releases and development.

At Illumina I worked on a non invasive prenatal testing product called VeriSeq. This product screens for genetic disorders with greater than 99% accuracy using a simple blood draw from the mother. My focus was making updates to the software to improve user experience and provide long term support.My initiatives included:- Wrote Python scripts to automate regular checks of a RAID controller and send warnings to the user if the controller is in an error state.- Implemented a system using Python and Docker to reveal different sections of the web UI to a user depending on the version of the server being used.- Made UI updates using the Python web framework CherryPy.

After my promotion to Software Engineer, I was entrusted with more responsibility by my team. This included the opportunity to make more design decisions, increased accountability, and onboarding and mentoring new hires.As part of an initiative to modernize our customer facing app, I learned NgRx and helped pioneer the state management system for our “forgot username or password” and two factor authentication flows. Our team also created two multi step modals that communicated with endpoints maintained by a different business unit in Fidelity using Angular 9.

My career at Fidelity started with the Leap program. This four month on-boarding program teaches participants about Fidelity's tech stack in a classroom setting and then gives them an opportunity to apply their knowledge with a sponsor team to solve a real life problem.After graduating from Leap I assumed my permanent position at Fidelity Charitable as a developer on a full stack team assigned to maintaining and adding functionality to the business's web applications.For my first initiative in the business, our team was assigned to rewriting the authentication and authorization logic in our Java and Spring Boot based microservices.Doing our part to chip away at the staggering work of maintaining an enterprise codebase, our team updated 11 dependencies in our microservices that may have been introducing vulnerabilities to our web apps.Up against a hard deadline, our team updated all of Fidelity Charitable's Oracle databases from 12c to 19c before it's end of life. This involved breaking changes in dozens of microservices which had to be remedied one by one.
