Responsible for management and oversight of all financial processes and procedures, including budgeting coordination and budget monitoring, financial procedures and internal controls, accounts payable and purchasing integration, payroll systems, cash flow management, computerized accounting systems and procedures, audits, and leadership management responsibilities.

Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

As Global Finance Manager, responsibilities included direct financial oversight pertaining to assigned country portfolio in areas such as performance management, operational accounting, audits, budgets and leading accounting system implementations and conversions. The job also involved providing direct leadership and mentoring to field Finance Directors. The countries supported in my portfolio were Swaziland, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Tanzania.

Maputo, Mozambique

Tasks involved providing overall financial leadership for the grant portfolio under World Vision Mozambique. This was made up of a complex array of multi donor funded projects. Some of the projects included a $50million five year grant funded by USAID and implemented by five international PVO's of which we were the prime agency. The portfolio also included a $49million Global Fund project also implemented as a consortium of which we were the lead agency.Key roles within the job included ensuring the accurate and timely production of financial reports, monitoring and capacity building of partner agencies and site reviews and audits of partners.Other donors within the portfolio included AusAid and the EU.

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe

The role involved financial management of the USAID funded Consortium for Southern Africa Food Emergency (C-SAFE) grant in Zimbabwe. This was a 2 year grant that involved the provision of food aid to districts all over Zimbabwe and was implemented as a consortium between CARE,CRS and WV.Key aspects of the job involved, monitoring the preparation and delivery of timely accurate reports to both internal and external stakeholders, training of staff on donor rules and regulations, periodic operational audits and ensuring the continued existence of sound internal controls and systems that provide comfort to the donor.

My role initially involved setting up a team that could track and report on donor funded projects. This included recruitment, systems installation and setup and development of procedures and policies. Other roles included financial reporting, mentoring and coaching of staff and audit preparation.The grant portfolio included donors such as USAID, Global Fund, SIDA, CIDA and AusAid.Achievements included the establishment of a grants finance section, success in major audits both internal and external and the setting up of robust financial systems that stood the test of time.
