I ran one of the first refuse to energy facilities in North America. Burned non hazardous shredded refuse in suspension at the rate of 7.5 tons / hour with a Btu values from 5500 to 18000 btus per Lb. Flue gas was also used to flash dry industrial/sanitary sewage sludge and return it to boiler for burning. The resulting ash was smelted for precious metal recovery. 450 psi steam was generated at an average rate of 77000 lbs/ hour and reduced to 260 psi and fed to a supply for powering a generator in an adjacent building.
