Program: Disaster ManagementPurpose: Makes recommendations to the Coordinator on matters pertaining to DM and provides leadership the the DM teamTo actively participate in developing strategies and initatives designed to enhance or impove the deliever of service on the local level.Duties andResponsibilities: Chairs the BranchDM Committee meetings and planning sessionsMakes recommendations for DM expenditiurres.In collaboration with the Coordinator establishes with members of the Committee suitable emergency reposnse procedures, within the mandate of the Red Cross and in consultation with local government and social services agenciesMaintains, with the assistance of the Committee a curent list of services and goods available the the Red Cross during reponses.In collaboration with Coordinator recruits develops training paths and availability of sufficient volunteers to meet commitments to the community.Encourages public awareness of Red Cross DM capability and training available in emergency response and need for donations.Porvides exercises and testing opportunities internally to volunteers and staff at Branch.Verifies fan-outs, telecommunication links, ready boxes and administative necessities on a regular basis to assure readiness.Familiar with team members responsibilities, local government emergency plans and key community responders.Signs off on volunteer qualifications for deployments in partnership with Coordinator.Qualifications: Knowledge of Red Cross and its ServicesKnowledge of the Branch DM program and communityDemonstrate Leadership skillsAbility to think clearly and act decisively under stressWillingness to learn about emergency reponse through trainingHave skill to manage a roster of on-call 24/7 volunteers as requiredMEMBER Regional Council Chair Branch Council -Disaster Management Advisory CommittieeInternational Advisory CommitteeField Assessment Coordination TeamNational Policy/ProcedureVoting Member Red Cross
