Ted Hamm is the director of The Étude Group, a network of public charter schools that applies hands-on project-based learning — empowering students to think critically and engage creatively. Our culture is rooted in mindful human connections, and strives to cultivate the next generation of changemakers.As a leader and supporter of progressive educational models, Ted has served as president of the Wisconsin Alliance for Arts Education, served as a board member of the Wisconsin Charter School Association and currently serves as a board member of the Wisconsin Innovative Schools Network. Ted has also been active in the area of educating for creativity through Wisconsin’s Task Force on Arts and Creativity in Education and The National Endowment for the Arts Educational Leadership Institute. In 2011 Ted and his faculty were selected to write a chapter for the book Educating for Creativity. Ted’s areas of focus include democratic school cultures; project-based learning aligned with the creative and design processes; school governance and sustainability training; and practices that promote higher order thinking and questioning.
