Course Lead: Civil Military Operations Seminar (Cmos)
The Civil Military Operations Seminar is designed to directly support the Lines of Effort (LOE) that Combatant Commands (COCOMs) and Theater Special Operations Command’s (TSOCs) support. Instructs students with basic through advanced CMO concepts with the skills necessary to achieve Civil-Military Operations unity of action through shaping, stability, COIN and other activities that counter asymmetric and irregular threats. Focuses on operational and strategic objectives in support of tactical operations during all levels of war, internal/ external conflict, and natural/man-made disasters. Provides or strengthens the civil-military skills necessary for operating and facilitating operations within a complex joint, inter-organizational or multi-national environment. Instructs students on the operational and strategic methodologies of CMO, developing an operational and strategic perspective, while establishing an understanding of the CMO Planning Process. Utilizes these skills in all aspects of the assessment cycle when conducting mission analysis through course of action development.
Course Director: International Mid-Level Leaders Course (Imlc)
The intent of the International Mid-Level Leadership Course is to prepare NCOs currently assigned to U.S. allied international Special Operations units to assume leadership positions at the operational levels. Students will understand and apply Critical Thinking to emerging problem sets; Recognize when to apply individual leadership skills and when to apply organizational leadership skills; Differentiate between conventional force and special operations forces actions, operations and activities; Educate subordinates, peers and junior officers in the SOF principles; Effectively communicate both within the organization (up and down) and outside the organization; Expand thinking from a focus on only current national issues to one that includes understanding and recognizing international SOF roles and responsibilities in the Elements of National Power; Understand commander’s intent, being able to translate it effectively and then being able to communicate a clear direction to subordinates utilizing the principles of mission command; Build and maintain an effective team with a focus on resiliency and readiness; Understand military operations in a Joint, Interagency, Inter-governmental, and Multinational environments.
