Lead Laser Technician/Shot Director•Laser Operations: system warm-up, laser alignment, operation, maintaining and optimizing beam quality and system diagnostics, vacuum system operations & documenting daily laser activities.•Experiment Development: Key player in aiding the Petawatt laser team and experimental groups to develop alignment techniques, diagnostics and proper laser configurations for all experimental setups. •Shot Operations: collaborate with experimentalists, assist in configuring the laser to meet their experimental needs, deliver desired shot types to any target configuration, and ensure all Petawatt diagnostic data is captured on shot. •Laser Maintenance and Upgrades: design, assembly, installation and calibration of all components in all areas of the laser system. Flush cooling unit lines, clean optics and replace laser flashlamps, optics and pinholes.•Safety Officer: Oversee multiple Operational Safety Procedures (OSP), test and certify personnel. Document all new laser hazards.•Documentation: maintains alignment procedures, shot operations procedures and checklists, OSPs, Petawatt lab notebook entries, and shot data log entries.

CIM LAB (Conditioning, Initiation, & Mitigation Lab for large optics) •XeF2 Excimer laser operation for large optic damage initiation at multiple fluence levels. •Low and high resolution damage site microscopy. •Pulsed CO2 Laser operation for damage site mitigation at multiple duty cycles. •Other duties involved in these tasks include temporal pulse shaping, beam profile setup and fluence balancing at all surfaces. National Ignition Facility Spatial Filter Towers Group - Platform Build Table Lead Laser Technician & Alternate Daily Work Team Leader •Personnel training, personnel management, procedure development, quality control practices, non-conformance logging, work order completions, production material flow and production schedule flow. •Mechanical assembly, laser alignments, vacuum leak testing, LabView software operation and development, optics handling, installation, damage inspection and cleaning, and electrical troubleshooting. Other duties include: designing and engineering alignment tooling and other hardware for workstation upgrades. •Responsible for the assembly and alignment of the Cavity Spatial Filter LRU, Transport Spatial Filter Alignment LRU, and Transport Spatial Filter Diagnostic LRU at both the platform and tower level. National Ignition Facility Shot Operations - Beam Control Operator •Main Laser Shot Operations: Conducted all main laser operations such as: Master Oscillator Room (MOR) setup, full system main laser alignment, wavefront pre-correction, regenerative & multi-pass amplifier energy calibration and pre-shot configuration of all main laser components for data acquisition, as well as image analysis of all main laser and target experimental images post shot. •Worked with various PhDs, engineers and computer programmers to successfully accomplish all the above responsibilities as well as develop new automated alignment techniques to improve shot rate efficiency and success rate.
