I have been in the grocery industry for 30+ years and have been involved with almost every segment of it. I grew up in a family owned business of 3 locations in the Los Angeles area. I started out as a meat cutter and was owner/operator for the last 5 years of its existence. During that time I became heavily involved with IT and continued my career in the grocery business with my main involvement being in technology. From 1998 - 2001 I worked for Homegrocer.com and was the manager of the perishable division for Southern California until they closed their doors. I was Executive Director of IT at Superior Grocers from 2001 thu 2014, opening 30 of their 43 locations and building the complete infrastructure of their IT department. I am now Director of IT at Mi Pueblo Foods in San Jose. They have 21 locations in Northern California.
