I developed and implemented the algorithms that Site Tuners uses to improve web site performance. Using these tools (and significant amounts of expertise in UI design), Site Tuners is able to substantially improve critical aspects of web site performance resulting in dramatic improvements in profitability for clients. A critical piece of the problem is that most web-sites don't have Amazonian data volumes. This makes the exploration of a large design space very difficult. With the right mathematics behind you, it is possible, without it, you are sunk.

At Musicmatch, I was responsible for setting the direction for advanced technology and for leading the incorporation of intelligence into the business process. My particular responsibilities included the creation of the recommendation engine, the architecture of the streaming infrastructure and programming systems and the e-commerce optimization process. I was also significantly involved in the design and implementation of most of the backend processes from the CD recognition systems to music acquisition to the data feed integration processes. These responsibilities were not limited to technical responsibilities. I was the technical member of the team that negotiated our label licenses which allowed us to meet the record labels' requirements while also allowing us to deliver products that gave our consumers more of what they wanted. Without the ability to re-architect during the negotiations, we would not have been able to do this.
