Contractor with the network team. Built a VRF system to segment the network for credit card, video, guest, and DMZ traffic; separating them from day-to-day data traffic. Designed and set up dynamic failover of the City’s main Internet connection to the backup connection using BGP. Analyzed network and developed plans for rebuilding the core, data center, and access networks. Developed core network documentation and diagrams, and advised on network and data center design issues. Upgraded 95% of the network switches without any issues. Provided tier 3 support for outages. Built a GNS3 server for the team to use as a network simulation “sandbox”, and provided training for its use.
