I remember being interviewed for a student co-op position late in my university career when I was asked about my writing skills. "I'm a good writer, but I don't like doing it," were the first words out of my mouth. It's funny now, thinking back, because it was in that position where I began to realize that writing wasn't just something I was good at, it was something I could really have fun with. And, something I looked forward to doing. I guess you could say that it was at that job that I also learned how to eat my words. It helped having a great supervisor who recognized and encourage me. Since then, I've often reflected on just how important it is to have great people around you who point out your strengths. Too often the pieces of ourselves that truly shine are all too easily taken for granted.FFWD to today, I get to spend my days thinking about the best ways to sting words together to create clarity, meaning, and impact. I'm at my happiest when I get to work alongside brilliant colleagues on something silly, heartfelt, or for the greater good.
