About Tejapratap Bollu
I am currently a Postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, with a primary research interest in discovering principles of organization in the somatosensory system. My PhD dissertation in Jesse Goldberg's lab at Cornell focussed on understanding the neural circuits underlying the planning, prediction and execution of movement. My core interests are applying Signal Processing and Machine Learning Techniques to solve problems in Biological Systems.I have previously worked on estimating blood flows in Neurovascular Networks and developing stochastic models to explain their behavior. I have also worked on developing bio-amplifiers and signal conditioning circuits, data acquisition, and real time systems for varied applications such as EEG and power line measurements.

Graduate Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant for the Course Signals and Systems in the Department for Electrical and Computer Engineering
Graduate Student (M. Eng.)
Department of Biomedical Engineering------------------------------------------------------------------Selective Stimulation of Neurons Using Field Shaping-------------------------------------------------------------------Selective Stimulation of Neurons is difficult due to thedifferent thresholds of spiking for neurons of different diameter and the spatial location of the neurons from the electrodes. This algorithm designs the electrode stimulus input to provide selective stimulation inspite of the above mentioned problems using Field Shaping Techniques Modeling Neurovascular Flows to Predict Blood Redistribution during Strokes----------------------------------------------------------------------The Model is built by reconstructing the Neurovascular Network as a Pressure-flow model (or a Voltage-Current Circuit) and a predictor is built to determine the missing flows. Using this model, we can estimate the redistribution of flows in the brain when a Stroke occurs, and the net flow of blood into the brain. This evaluation provides us with insight into the effect of strokes on brain functions.
Research Associate
Teaching and Research Associate in the Signal Processing Laboratory.64 Channel EEG Acquisition System -----------------------------------------------------------------------Designed and built a 64 Channel EEG acquisition system using the AD8221, system has in built signal conditioning and an ADC. It is interfaced with the embedded analysis system by USB.Expert System for Semi-Automated Channel Selection and Onset Detection of Epilepsy from Scalp Based EEG-----------------------------------------------------------------------Designed an algorithm to construct Patient Specific Classifiers to detect onset of Epileptic Seizures through Scalp based EEG. A feature set was generated that best represented the spatio-temporal evolution of the epilepsy and a robust classifier to determine the exact onset of the epileptic seizure. The algorithm detected the onset with 97.14% accuracy with a mean detection latency of 2.4 seconds.
