•As a summer intern at EY, I am currently working in the exciting field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) with a specific focus on fraud monitoring and its applications in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector.•In my role, I am actively involved in leveraging advanced AI/ML techniques and technologies to detect and prevent fraudulent activities within the BFSI industry. I work closely with a team of experienced professionals who specialise in data analytics, AI algorithms, and financial crime investigations.•My responsibilities include analysing large datasets from various sources, such as transaction records, customer profiles, and historical data, to identify patterns and anomalies that could indicate potential fraud. I collaborate with experts to develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms that can automatically detect fraudulent patterns in real-time.•Additionally, I assist in designing and deploying fraud monitoring systems that leverage AI-powered technologies, including natural language processing, anomaly detection, and predictive modelling. These systems enable financial institutions to proactively identify and mitigate risks, protect their customers' assets, and ensure regulatory compliance.•Throughout my internship, I engage in rigorous research and analysis to understand the evolving nature of financial fraud and stay up-to-date with the latest AI/ML advancements in the field. I actively contribute to brainstorming sessions, sharing innovative ideas, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive solutions to combat fraud effectively.•Working at EY provides me with a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the application of AI/ML techniques within the BFSI sector, while also understanding the challenges and regulatory considerations associated with fraud monitoring.
