This commitment drives advancements in cancer diagnostics, enhancing early detection and risk assessment capabilities.In a leadership capacity, I have guided a team and played a key role in securing multimillion-dollar NIH grants through successful collaborations. My research has revealed a novel communication mechanism between tumor cells and platelets, involving the transfer of tumor genes, activating platelets, and shedding new light on the longstanding link between cancer metastasis and thrombosis. The implications of this finding extend to potential interventions for preventing and treating thrombosis.Simultaneously, my research within the CNS has unveiled crucial molecules and mechanisms employed by microglia in regulating vasculature, neuronal development, and clearing pathological proteins. The targeting of specific molecules like Kindlin3 or TGFβ1 in microglia holds significance for retinal pathologies such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and various brain disorders, including autism, Alzheimer's, ALS, and Parkinson's. This research contributes substantially to potential breakthroughs in vision loss prevention and the understanding and treatment of diverse brain disorders.

Phd In Biomedical Sciences

My doctoral research explores the potential of protein phosphatases type1 (PP1) isoforms and type 2 (PP2A) as biomarkers for male infertility and/ as targets for generation of reversible male contraceptives. In brief this NIH funded project entailed studying the biochemical roles of these enzymes and their isoforms along with the mechanisms regulating them at the level of transcript and protein in mammalian spermatogenesis and sperm function. I was responsible for generation and maintenance of transgenic mouse lines followed by extensive phenotypic and molecular analysis. In an addition project, I had successfully planned and implemented several pharmacological studies concerning the effects of specific biochemical activators and inhibitors of protein kinases and protein phosphatases to regulate sperm cell function. Simultaneously, I had collaborated on projects with other principal investigators and fellow graduate students while mentoring new graduate and undergraduate students.
